Skilmore for Schools

A Skilmore session works best as a 10-minute formative check at the start or end of a lesson. The teacher opens the dashboard, selects the topic they just covered — Grade 8 Natural Sciences, World War 2, Afrikaans Idioms — and launches a chatroom. Students scan a QR code or type a room code on their phones or tablets, and within seconds everyone is in. Questions appear one at a time. Students type their answers into the chat. The leaderboard updates in real time so every student can see where they stand.

What makes this different from a worksheet or a quiz app is the social element. Students see each other's names on the leaderboard. They cheer, they compete, they want to answer correctly — all in a moderated chatroom where the teacher controls what can and cannot be said. For many teachers, the hardest part of the school day is keeping learners engaged in the final 20 minutes of class. Skilmore solves this by turning revision into a competition where participation feels voluntary even when it is not.

All built-in question banks are aligned to the CAPS curriculum, covering Grades 4 through 12 across Mathematics, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, English Home Language, and Afrikaans First Additional Language.
